And The New Pussycat Doll is...Coach Joelle?

Not very likely!!! :-) But I gotta say what a fun little show!  For those of you who are unfamiliar, the Pussycat Dolls are an all girls singing group who are TRES HOT! (That’s French for "really hot" incase you were wondering).  These are some beautiful, fit, talented women who know how to move and they are my inspiration for Living Loud this week!

The reason I bring them up is I accidentally recorded an episode of this latest reality show and now I am hooked. In the show, these women work with choreographers and singing instructors so they can then dance and sing their hearts out all in the hopes of being the next Pussycat Doll (even though in the first episode I saw, half of them were hooked up to intravenous fluids offstage because there was a virus going around – now that’s commitment!).

As I watched these women do what they do, I really got present to how much I love to dance and sing and move and express. When I was little, I would spend hours a day singing and acting out songs, watching my shadow on the wall.  The funny thing is I would get about the same satisfaction today as I did as a 7 year old, only now, I would want a mirror and a video camera and a really fabulous wardrobe.

This was a real revelation for me to see that something as simple as singing and dancing in the basement could bring me immediate joy, any day, any time, for 0$.  In our society, there is so little value put on fun and so little room for play.  We are aggressively on the hunt for productivity, achievement and “getting there” all in the name of what?  Success?  Happiness? The ever allusive "becoming something"?

Phooey!  What are we doing, people?!  Where are we trying to get? Do we really think happiness is going to be over there?  Does it make sense to wait to play, celebrate and rest only once we’ve “made it”?

This is life. This is it, right now.  If we are putting off the good stuff for when we deserve it or when we have it all under control then I offer that we may just be missing the point.  I offer that "productivity "is the booby prize and that "getting there" without actually “being here” is misguided at best.  Life is "for living", not “for later”.

And so I say  -let's put the joy back into life. Let's take time for play. Let's celebrate the moment because the moment is all there is!

The invitation:  Today I invite you to identify one thing that enlivens you. One thing that lights you up, gives you energy, and makes you happy.  And then just do it! Do it now or put it on the schedule for this week. Seize this day to truly live!

Below I have included an incredible poem from Tiffany Prochera, singer/songwriter extraordinaire (and my amazing sister!), that captures the spirit of seizing the day.

That’s all for now.  I’m off to the basement to get my groove on!

Cheers!

Joelle

P.S. This particular moment of inspiration actually has me currently in the process of creating “the body of a dancer” and bringing a lot more fun and play into my life as I revel in my body! If you would like to hear more of these adventures you can check out the coach Joelle blog and come along for the ride!

Be Inspired

May you be inspired today.
May you be encouraged to travel your path with sure feet, confident in your direction.
May you be spurred on to explore, to face the challenge, to go to the next level.
May you experience many moments when you want to
stand up and shout, “Huzzah!  How grand this life is
and I want more of it!”
May you fall asleep exhausted but giddy with anticipation for what is to come, as though you cannot wait until the morning to continue the adventure, to see what glorious miracles are going to occur.
And finally, may you realize your power to create such a day and such a life for yourself for you truly do possess it.

Have an exciting day!
