Hi gang!

Back to school Time!!!

Wow! Can you believe it!! Out here in Ohio, fall is in the air and the little ones are all heading back to school! 

I knew it was that time but it really hit home today as my early morning walk revealed yellow school buses moving around the neighborhood and the tell-tale signs of crunchy yellow leaves scattered on the ground.  It brings to mind excited September mornings in Thompson, Manitoba, dew on the grass, a fresh new back to school outfit and a handful of flowers cut from our front garden to bring to my new teacher. What a happy memory.

The closing of summer brings with it so many satisfying completions.  

First of all, one of the things I took on this summer as part of the Make Your Life Program, was to create community.  One thing about living in Cleveland is that I kinda planned on moving, so there was a part of me that did not fully engage.  When I set myself up to Make my life this summer, I realized that whether we move next week or next year, I need my peeps… NOW!  And like all things, the intention and openness of manifestation and fearless action have led to a thriving social life in less than 2 months.  I am so grateful for our new camping friends Peter and Deborah and my new walking buddy Nikki, Leslie for our time at the pool, Jon and Tiff for introducing us to our gym community, to Steve for throwing a great party, for Lisa and Janee for being gentle and nurturing souls on my path and to all of our very special people who I realize have always been here when I just opened my eyes.  (As a note, If you are looking for more community, I have found this opening line to be highly effective…. “Hi, I’m ________, and I have no friends.  You seem pretty neat, wanna hang out?”  Give it a try, it has not failed me yet.)

The second major completion or beginning, however you want to look at it, of the summer, has been the work with the Coach Joelle Summer Interns, who as it so happens, are also heading back to school! They have been total rock stars and such a delight to have around.  Through their work, I have seen pieces of a great vision come into being and their creations have been beyond my expectations and imagination.  Over the weeks to come I will reveal their creations in the Coach Joelle Blog, But for now, I just have to reveal Megan’s duck!  Since 2001 I have been sharing the story of the Minnesota Ducks to illustrate how we live in an interpretive world and today, those ducks have a face!!

As I said I have many more intern delights to reveal but for now I will just say thank you thank you thank you to Jessica, Megan, Theresa, LaShawn and Monica and I offer that if any of you are looking for graphic design, video editing or writing/editing support I know some fabulous young people that have just been turned onto the idea of freelancing and working from home, so just let me know and I can get you in touch with them.

So, back to this back to school conversation.  Back to school time always ignites that energy of new beginnings and even though you have likely not carried a lunch pail in decades I ask you, if you could use the coming months to learn anything…what would you learn?

An Invitation: It’s 6 months from now, what one new thing would you like to say you have learned? What new activity would you like to say you have participated in?

Will you have run a triathlon?
Joined a band?
Learned to knit?
Become a painter?
